Big Sky Cafe has been serving up Farmers Market cuisine since 1994.  Located downtown in the college town of San Luis Obispo, Ca., this is the place to dine on locally sourced food flair. Whether you are dining outside on the patio, inside, or in between the big doors that open to the outdoor patio, you are going to enjoy the food and the atmosphere.

Big Sky3

While waiting for our entrees, we were served the most delicious cornbread. Green chilis, cheddar cheese and whole kernels of corn made this one of the best cornbreads that I have had in a long time. With or without butter, they were simply amazing.

Big Sky1

The side House Salad ($3.25) was a medley of locally sourced greens and organic goodness.  I had never tried Pecan Ranch dressing until now, and it was the perfect companion to the shredded beets and toasted peppered pecans.

Big Sky2

The Lobster Macaroni & Cheese (19.95) was simply divine!  This cheesy masterpiece had huge chunks of lobster, green peas and a rich sauce that brought me comfort and delight.  Served with a side of greens and freshly grated Parmesan Cheese, this meal is sure to please.

Big Sky5

The Braised Lamb Shank Buenos Aires ($18.25) was flavorful and hearty.  The tender lamb just fell right off the bone, and the savory juices saturated the potatoe-zucchini latkes with deliciousness.

BigSky7

We couldn't leave without trying the Grilled Pesto Shrimp & Sweet Pea Risotto ($21.50).  The jumbo pesto shrimp were grilled to perfection and perched on top a bed of risotto.  The symphony of flavors was just spectacular.

Blue Sky Cafe is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner 7 days a week.  With 20 local wines being sold by the glass, they are sure to have one that pairs perfectly with the entree of your choice. Whether celebrating a special occasion or just dinner out with friends,  you will find great food, great waitstaff and an amazing culinary experience waiting for you at Big Sky Cafe.

What an amazing meal! I love really good cornbread and that cornbread looks and sounds amazing! The mac and cheese looks so good, but I would get it without lobster, LOL!

I absolutely love colorful and visually appealing food, and it looks like this café does just that. The Lobster Macaroni & Cheese sounds like something that I would love to try (minus the peas). And whoa, those are some giant shrimp!

I’m glad you enjoyed everything at Blue Sky. Too bad it’s over 1,000 miles away.

I think I would eat my weight in those cornbread biscuits! YUM! Sadly, I’d have to skip the lobster mac and cheese and the shrimp dish since I’m super allergic to shellfish, but I’d love to see what else they’ve got on their menu. If the shellfish dishes look that good, I bet they’ve got some awesome stuff I can eat. 🙂
