Szechwan Chinese restaurant is located in Orinda, California on the Country Club side of town. This family owned restaurant has been serving the city of Orinda for 30 years and counting. I’m very confident that after eating here, you will understand why they continue to do business in this small town.
I like to dine at Szechwan during the lunch hour. Not only do they serve lunch specials, but they are nice size portions and the prices are cheaper than the dinner prices. The lunch specials come with the soup of the day, and salad as well. This particular day, they were serving Wonton soup.
I’m a creature of habit when it comes to eating at Szechwan. I absolutely LOVE the Szechwan Shrimp ($8.95) and order it every time that I come in. The shrimp are coated, deep fried and tossed with a sweet and tangy sauce. The salad is served with a ginger dressing that will wake up your taste buds. All lunch specials come with rice as well.
My husband on the other hand orders something different just about every time we come here. Today he decided to order the Mongolian Beef ($8.25). The thin, spicy slices of tender beef come served with vegetables, salad and rice. He’s not a fan of onions so next time we’ll request them to be omitted.
Each meal ends with a plate of cold oranges and a fortune cookie. I must have eaten the fortune cookie before getting a photo of it, but nonetheless it was the perfect ending to a perfect lunch.
The staff is friendly and courteous as well as attentive. Szechwan is open Tuesday through Sunday and they do accept reservations. If you are looking to save a buck or two, they do offer a 10% on all to go orders except the lunch specials. So weather you are celebrating a special occasion or just lunch with the love of your life, consider Szechwan for you next culinary pit stop.
I just had dinner but there can never be enough Chinese food.. now I am craving it. lol
I can eat Chinese food any time of the day or night!
I am kinda like you when it comes to choosing what to order. I always go with the intent to try something new but when I find something that I already know is delicious I can’t resist.
It’s nice that Szechwan can both be a place for special occasions or a regular meal. They also do serve great looking dishes there.
You have definitely made me feel like Chinese now!! 🙂
This looks absolutely delicious!! Wish we had this nearby, our Asian food is not the best here in Baton Rouge. 🙁
